Founder & Owner – Himalayan Trail Blazer
Tshering Ngima Sherpa is a renowned Nepali mountaineer, trekking guide, and expedition organizer with nearly four decades of experience in the Himalayas. As the Founder and Owner of Himalayan Trail Blazer, a premier trekking, expedition, and peak-climbing service provider, he has dedicated his life to guiding adventurers through Nepal’s most challenging landscapes and inspiring journeys that combine adventure with cultural richness.
Early Career (1986–2009): From Sardar to Freelance Pioneer
Tshering Ngima Sherpa began his mountaineering journey in 1986 as a sardar (team leader) and trekking guide on the legendary Everest Base Camp route. His leadership skills, deep knowledge of Himalayan terrain, and dedication to client safety quickly earned him recognition among both local climbers and international adventurers.
For the next two decades (1986–2009), he built his career as a freelancer—a period that shaped his versatility and expertise. During these years, he:
Worked as a trekking guide, leading groups across iconic trails such as Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, and Langtang Valley.
Organized peak climbing trips for emerging mountaineers seeking Himalayan summits like Island Peak, Mera Peak, and Lobuche.
Managed expedition logistics, supporting climbers from across the globe on ambitious ascents of Nepal’s 8,000-meter giants.
This phase of freelancing not only sharpened his technical knowledge but also expanded his global network of mountaineers, expedition companies, and adventure enthusiasts. His reputation for reliability, problem-solving, and cultural hospitality became the foundation for his entrepreneurial journey.
Establishment of Himalayan Trail Blazer (2010)
In 2010, driven by a vision to provide world-class mountaineering and trekking experiences, Tshering Ngima Sherpa founded Himalayan Trail Blazer. From its inception, the company emphasized professional logistics, highly skilled Sherpa teams, and a strong commitment to safety and sustainability.
That same year, he took on a rare and challenging assignment—organizing a Mount Everest Expedition during the autumn season. Unlike the popular spring season, autumn expeditions are notoriously difficult due to harsher weather conditions and limited climber interest. Yet, under his leadership, Eric Larsen’s “Save the Poles” Expedition successfully summited Mount Everest on October 15, 2010, marking a historic achievement for Himalayan Trail Blazer.
Notable Achievements & Expeditions
2011 – National Geographic Adventure of the Year:
Himalayan Trail Blazer sponsored and provided logistics for the “Summit to Sea” expedition, where Mr. Lhakpa Tshiri Sherpa and Mr. Sanu Babu Sunuwar launched a paraglider from Everest’s summit and kayaked the Ganges River to the Indian Ocean. Their feat won National Geographic’s “Adventure of the Year” 2011, highlighting Tshering Ngima Sherpa’s commitment to supporting groundbreaking adventures.2011 – Manaslu Expedition (October):
Successfully led an international team with Ryan Waters from Mountain Professionals, establishing the company’s reliability in high-altitude expeditions.2012 – Dhaulagiri Expedition (March–May):
Once again partnered with Ryan Waters to achieve a successful ascent of one of the most challenging 8,000-meter peaks.2013 & 2014 – Manaslu Expeditions (October):
Consecutive years of success reinforced Himalayan Trail Blazer’s expertise in organizing high-altitude climbs with international collaborations.2015 – Everest Expedition (Spring):
Continued partnership with Ryan Waters of Mountain Professionals for a successful Everest expedition, further strengthening the company’s global reputation.
Legacy & Vision
With a career spanning from grassroots guiding in 1986 to leading one of Nepal’s respected expedition companies, Tshering Ngima Sherpa’s story is one of resilience, leadership, and passion for the Himalayas.
Today, Himalayan Trail Blazer is recognized for:
Providing trekking, peak climbing, and expedition services across Nepal.
Building a network of experienced Sherpas and climbers.
Supporting innovative and record-setting adventures.
Upholding values of safety, sustainability, and cultural respect.
Tshering Ngima Sherpa continues to inspire climbers and adventurers worldwide, ensuring that every journey in the Himalayas is not just about reaching the summit, but about experiencing the spirit of the mountains.
